LUMI’S UTOPIA: A world full of lights, love, and hope. Let Lumi transform your 2-D drawing into a larger-than-life, handcrafted 3-D sculpture!

This year, LumioCity teams up with Long Island Children’s Museum to invite you on an imaginary journey as you design and draw “Sweet Dreams” for a chance to have your drawing turned into a light-art sculpture featured at the 2024 LuminoCity Holiday Lights Festival!

Join us, light up the kids’ childhood and create an unforgettable experience with Lumi’s Utopia.

LUMI’S UTOPIA WORKSHOP AT 📍LONG ISLAND CHILDREN’S MUSEUM

Illuminate your imagination and inspire creativity! In this educator-led, hands-on workshop, participants will be introduced to the history and process of lantern making while creating their own unique composition inspired by the theme “Sweet Dreams.” In collaboration with LuminoCity, participants’ 2-D artwork will be submitted for a chance to have it brought to life as a 3-D light sculpture featured on display at the 2024 LuminoCity Festival.

  • Ages 4-14 ONLY

    • On-site Workshop Time Schedule:

    • Tuesday, April 23, at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

    • Thursday, April 25, at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

    • Friday, April 26, at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

    *Each workshop is approximately 1 hour long, with the first 10-15 minutes being intro and video examples of the festival and the remaining 45 minutes or so reserved for the drawing time.

  • Free with LICM admission, but ticket required. Workshop tickets will be available at the Box Office on the day of the event.

  • April 22nd - June 1st

  • 2024 Drawing Theme: Sweet Dreams

    Children will make their sweet dreams come alive as they imagine their favorite sweet treat as living creatures. Cuddly cupcakes, lollipop ballerinas or ice-skating ice cream cones are just some of the ways imaginations can run wild!

  • Drawings are done in pencil first, then traced over in Prismacolor markers. Blender markers are also provided and are optional.

  • 🏆 July 1st. 2024

    From drawing to Light Sculpture: A light-art collaboration, the winner’s paintings will be carefully transformed into a life-size installation.

    Lumi’s Friends Admission: A title that comes with a physical card with the winner’s name; this card authorizes Lumi’s friends will have the right to enter the LuminoCity Festival unlimited times for FREE from 2024-2026 at any location.

    Goodie Bag: Each winner will receive a Lumi Goodie bag when the winner arrives for the 2024 event.

    LICM Family Four Pass to Long Island Children’s Museum for each winner.
